Intellectual Property

The designer of the WOKKEL snack (left) doesn't want anybody to steal his idea. That makes perfect sense to me. But now I wonder if there might also be a Designer of DNA (right) with Intellectual Property rights...

The Dutch Supreme Court confirmed in 1983 a ruling by the Court of Appeal of Amsterdam that the trade value added by the shape of the Wokkel cocktail crisp was not part of the essential value of the product. It confirmed that the value of the crisp lies in its comestible nature, its taste and crispyness. source
